Joint parallel-machine scheduling and maintenance planning optimisation with deterioration, unexpected breakdowns, and condition-based maintenance

The joint optimisation of production scheduling and maintenance planning can significantly decrease interruptions (or stoppages) and, simultaneously, improve stability enhance the reliability availability equipment machines. This paper studies schedules CBM plans in a parallel-machine setting. machines are subject to deterioration, unexpected breakdowns, deterioration-based failures. is modelled as multi-state system which two deterioration thresholds introduced initiate prevent An integrated model proposed solve this new problem. employs Markov chains formulate machines’ matrix-based approach estimate expected processing times, energy consumption, costs. Then, mixed-integer programming that jointly optimises by minimising weighted sum objective function includes lateness, maintenance, consumption A genetic algorithm (GA) used problem, extensive computational experiments performed test performance GA. results show superiority GA for all problems compared well-known metaheuristics.
